Interesting games that came out of Gencon

Now I didn't go to Gencon. It's tough with a family and a job. But there have been some interesting games I read about that made their debut at Gencon whether as a demo or being offered for the first time at Gencon.

The buzz for Keyforge: call of the Archons has been around and was demoed at Gencon. It makes deck building obsolete or so it claims by offering unique decks. When you buy a Keyforge deck, no one will have the same combination of cards as you. This is the first Unique card game.Game takes place on an imaginary world called the Crucible. There are 7 Houses and you use choose one and only use the cards for that House in your deck. It is published by Final Fantasy Flight and will be available early next year.

Another game from Final Fantasy is not a new game but the 3rd edition of Arkham Horror. The board is made of modular tiles so that each game is different. It is for 1-6 players. You won't know the goal of winning the game at the start. You must find clues and solve smaller goals to find out.

In the family of Forbidden Island and Forbidden Desert, this year Gamewright is releasing Forbidden Sky in the Forbidden trilogy and this time it takes place in the clouds. You have to power a rocket ship by using electricity by creating a real circuit! How cool is that. I'm a fan of the first two Forbidden game and I really anticipate this game.

Another game that was demoed is Tiny Epic Mechs. Players take on the roles of highly skilled and athletic Mech pilots. They compete in a free-for-all battle royale over the span of six rounds. This looks cool with those meeple mechs. Another great game from Gamelyn Games that is on Kickstarter now. You can attach weapons to the meeples who also can put place in the mechs. This takes meeples to the next level of fun!

No doubt because of the popularity of the Descendants movies, Disney now has a game where you play Disney villains in Disney Villainous from Wonder Forge. Play as one of six iconic Disney Villains (Maleficent, Ursula, Jafar, Prince John, Queen of Hearts, Captain Hook).  You try to obtain dastardly objectives while thwarting your fellow villains from achieving theirs. A very interesting take.

Jurassic Park Danger Adventure Strategy Game is a light strategy game, set in the chaotic scene of Isla Nublar. One player controls the T. rex, Dilophosaurus, and Velociraptor, prowling through the jungle to attack the humans. The remaining players work as the team of iconic characters from the classic Jurassic Park™ film to fight against the player controlling the dinosaurs. I really love the Jurassic Park series and this is definitely on my radar. Currently it is hard to get a hold of.
